The Dream Continues…
It may be nearing a month since the Grand Dream Night, but the Pinoy Dream Academy scholars’ careers are just beginning to blossom; and just a few days ago, the members of the Headmaster’s List (sans Rosita) and RJ Jimenez were available to answer some questions for a much-anticipated pres conference.
Members of the press were treated to a performance from the Final Six, as Panky, Jay-R, Chad, Irish, Ronnie and Grand Star Dreamer Yeng reprised their performances for the Grand Dream Night. After this the scholars each had their turn in answering questions regarding their careers. When asked if they plan to continue their careers in the Philippines, balikbayans Irish and Chad had the same sentiments. “Of course, I’m very comfortable here… I can connect with my roots here,” Chad replied. Irish quickly added: “Why turn your back on an opportunity that’s not knocking, but pounding, on your door?” RJ and Yeng, on the other hand, had a different issue to tackle: when asked if they were a couple, Yeng replied rather sheepishly: “Friends lang kami. Nagbigayan kaming donuts nung Pasko. Yun, donut friends.”
A few announcements were made as well. According to PDA director Lauren Dyogi, a management company named Dream Big Productions was put up which, he says, “formed to accommodate PDA singers and their budding careers.” Although some have signed different record deals (Ronnie just inked a deal with Universal Records, for example), Dream Big Productions still holds managerial duties over all the scholars.
For the Final Six, the Dream Concert Tour was also announced; this world tour will be from late March to April, and will span places like San Diego, San Francisco, Hollywood, Las Vegas, New York, Japan and Australia. The rest of the scholars will join them as well. RJ is working on his album, which is set to come out at the end of February; and Yvan, Panky, Davey and Eman has formed a band called Cebalo, whose first single will be a rearranged version of the Pinoy Big Brother Theme Song for the soundtrack of the second season. They have regular gigs as well, every Wednesdays at Club O and Thursdays at Mugen.
The Pinoy Dream Academy no doubt lived up to what it promised; fulfilling the dreams realizing the potential of those who made it far as scholars. As Lauren Dyogi put it: “Malayo pa ang ilalakbay ng mga bata.” _________________
